What’s the most recent update on the Wikileaks founder? On Monday, May 20, 2024, Julian Assange was granted the ability to appeal against his extradition to the United States, as a UK court ruled. He is now waiting for his appeal while in custody. This is considered a success for supporters of Assange. The United States wants him extradited to stand trial in a military court for leaking classified information about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many people support Assange because the information that was leaked may have exposed numerous war crimes.

What type of war crimes are we talking about here? Well, there were numerous videos included in the leak of US soldiers killing civilians during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. There were also documents suggesting that hundreds of other civilians were killed in non-recorded incidents. War is a disease that affects the innocent more than anyone else, and many people question whether Assange should be held responsible for exposing the United States’s role in perpetuating it.
