On Saturday, June 6, 2024, Israel went forward with a hostage rescue operation to recover Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv from Palestine. These individuals were taken during the October 7, 2023, surprise attack on an Israeli festival carried out by Hamas, a militant Palestinian group classified as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States. The operation was carried out by IDF forces on the central Gaza strip.
Sources on the ground indicate that over 200 Palestinians were killed during the operation. Videos emerging online would seem to suggest that countless others were injured. These videos are extremely graphic, so viewer discretion is advised. Many Palestinians can be seen laying on the ground completely motionless in pools of their own blood; plenty are shown to be missing limbs. The level of destruction cannot be understated, and the bloody conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate.
