On June 15, 2024, California’s first large-scale wildfire of the year began its raging path of destruction. As of writing, the Post Wildfire has already burned through over 14,000 acres and is only 2% contained. Officials have evacuated 1,200 people from Hungry Valley Park. According to state officials, “evacuation orders are in place for areas west of Interstate 5 between Pyramid Lake and Gorman. This includes the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area.” Anyone living nearby these areas should remain cautious as well.
California experiences thousands of wildfires every year, and occasionally a few of them end up ballooning into something disastrous. It is important for anybody at risk to remain prepared for the worst, and have an escape plan ready.
